Modular turnkey facilities on Greenfield Sites


Healthcare Facilities for Greenfield Sites Occasionally a hospital has the luxury of being able to build on an unrestricted Greenfield site. This means the new build facility can be designed around the exact requirements of the end users and not be compromised by the restrictive space of a courtyard etc.

		Building on a Greenfield site usually means there are more extensive enabling works to undertake, which can include excavation, extension of services from the main hospital site, foundation preparation and landscaping. Using modular buildings for Greenfield projects offers a construction programme saving of up to 60% when compared to traditional construction.

Whilst the the site enabling works are underway, the modular building is being constructed with the M&E almost completed. This means when the site is prepared there are only a small amount of works to complete on site.

Day Surgery Unit – Singleton Hospital, Swansea The 1,000m2, single-storey day surgery unit was a complete turnkey project provided by ModuleCo. The enabling works included, removal of trees, excavation, installation of a retaining wall, foundations including concrete slabs for the operating theatres, provision of a car park, and the final landscaping.

As the unit is totally stand alone, it had to provide most of it’s own services to be independent of the main hospital site. The facility was clad in a ‘Welsh slate’ effect cladding to pass very tight planning restrictions.
